Subject: Buffalo Creek Epic3 - Details!
Dear Epic3 Registrant,
Thanks so much for joining us at the Buffalo Creek Epic Celebration hosted
by Team Evergreen, in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service, the Front Range
Mountain Bike Patrol (FRMBP), Colorado Mountain Bike Association (COMBA), IMBA,
the Colorado Trail Foundation (CTF), Boulder Mountain Bike Alliance (BMA) and
Bicycle Colorado. This page includes specific details to help you prepare for
this upcoming event. Additional information including maps and ride details can
be found at map.
The weekend weather should be great with highs in the 70s and lows in the
40s. Even so, it is always a good idea to be prepared for variable conditions
with multiple layers and rain gear.
We look forward to seeing you at the Meadows Group Campground on Friday
night or Saturday morning ready and dressed for trail work at 9:00 a.m.
CAMPING
Free camping is available on Friday and Saturday night. Camping will be at
the Meadow Group Campground in the Buffalo Creek Recreation Area. Bathrooms will
be available; however there will be no showers. A water tank will be available,
but it is always good to bring plenty of your own.
Trail work gear: Sturdy and supportive shoes or boots, work gloves, bike
helmet, long sleeve shirt and long pants.
Riding gear: Bike, helmet, shoes, gloves, rain jacket, basic trailside
toolkit, at least two spare inner tubes, patch kit, pump, snacks, plenty of
water, and any special tools or parts unique to your bike. A helpful list of
suggested items to pack is available at the above website.

Make sure your bike is tuned up before the ride. Comfortable clothing will
make your ride more pleasant, so please plan ahead.
Camping gear: Bring your tent, sleeping bag and any other car camping
essentials. Be prepared for temperatures in the 40s early in the morning.
DIRECTIONS TO THE MEADOWS GROUP CAMPGROUND
From Denver take Hwy-285 to Pine Junction, go south on Hwy 126 for 13.9
miles, take a right into Buffalo Creek on Hwy 550 and go 5.5 miles, take left
into the Meadows Group Campground area. Look for "Epic" sign at Hwy 126 &
Hwy 550, and another sign as you approach the campground. Cooking and
festivities will be held at "Area 1", while tent camping will be in the large
grass area below "Area 2". Detail Map
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 30
Continental breakfast served 7:30 a.m. to 8:45a.m. (provided by COMBA)
Trail work -
9:00 a.m. 2:00 p.m.-ish
Be ready to go at 9:00 a.m. at the Meadows Campground. From the Meadows
Campground, we will hike to the worksite on the Colorado Trail. The Colorado
Trail Foundation will
provide a trail-side sack lunch.
Optional Group Ride - 3:00 5:00 p.m.
If you still have energy, join us for an optional Saturday afternoon ride around
Green Mountain Loop with Colorado trail options.
Group Dinner and Festivities - 6:00 p.m.
Saturday night will be the night to unwind, hang out with new friends and enjoy
a provided meal under the stars. Team Evergreen will provide a yummy catered
dinner Saturday night which is free for all registered participants and
volunteers.
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 1
Breakfast - 7:30 a.m.
Team Evergreen will provide a power-packed breakfast including coffee, fruit and
burritos Sunday morning free for all participants and volunteers!
FUN RIDES
Please bring plenty of food and water for the ride plus essentials such as
spare inner tubes, a patch kit, tool kit, pump, sunscreen, and any additional
clothing you might need if we should encounter a weather change.
For those of you who want to participate in organized rides, you will be
broken up into three rider preference groups. If you want to go fast or slow,
there will be a group for you. We will ask you your riding preference when you
register for the trail work Saturday morning. Be ready to ride by 9:00 AM
Sunday.
